Making a plan for playtime, from start to finish
Simple ways to talk about game time, spend a little of it together, and plan what comes next in your family's day.
Pick a small plan before opening the game
Ask your child what they'd like to try today. You might agree to make one dish and look at the result together. A specific activity gives you something concrete to refer to when it's time to finish, instead of introducing the stopping point without warning.
Sit alongside them for a while
Ask which ingredients they chose or what they're doing next. You don't have to correct every choice. Let your child explain what they're making; the conversation can give you a closer look at the parts of the game they enjoy.
Give a heads-up before wrapping up
Remind your child of the plan before you close the app. If there's room in your schedule, let them finish the step they're working on. Then name the next activity, such as drawing the dish they made or coming up with a name for an imaginary restaurant.
Adjust the plan to your family
If stopping is difficult, try a smaller activity next time and stay nearby during the transition. Notice what fits your family's day and what needs adjusting. These are ideas for everyday family routines, not age-based screen-time limits.
